Rachel Briggs

Lead Teacher, Junior Kindergarten

Teacher at GPS since 2015

7 Years of Teaching Experience

Rachel was born and raised in Northern Virginia and currently lives in Ashburn with her husband and two children. Rachel became an avid reader at an early age, in large part because of her mother’s influence as a librarian and her love of reading. She is a strong believer that reading plays an important role in education and that as educators and parents, we should present reading as a gift, not a chore. Books allow us to travel without actually going anywhere, discover new things, meet people, and expand our imaginations. Rachel’s philosophy on reading is “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body”, and she creates an engaging atmosphere that her students look forward to each day.

After becoming a mother and spending time in the classroom she realized her true passion was teaching. Both of Rachel’s children are Golden Pond School alumni and she felt right at home expanding her teaching career here at GPS. Rachel embraces the Golden Pond Way of teaching the whole child through hands-on experiences allowing for learning to be fun and meaningful.

Also, Rachel has completed 2 half marathons and enjoys karate with her family.

“My goal is that my students will leave my class as life-long learners.”
