Palak Shah

Lead Teacher, Junior Kindergarten

Teacher at GPS since 2016

10 Years of Teaching Experience

Palak began at Golden Pond School as a GPS parent for three years when her daughter was a student. Palak came to the United States from India in 2006 to pursue her Masters of Education. She completed her student teaching at Marymount University, VA and at Dranesville Elementary School in Herndon, Virginia, where she taught kindergarten, first and fifth grade plus worked as a substitute for Fairfax County Public Schools. Palak continues to tutor elementary age children in reading and math.

Teaching has always been Palak’s passion. She was impressed by the curriculum, classrooms and materials at GPS and loves working in this creative and challenging environment. Palak believes that all children have their own capabilities that they will discover and she will nurture. She feels this is the beginning of a long journey in a child’s education and works hard to provide a strong foundation of academic and social skills. Being partners with the children and their families make that journey a success.

Palak lives in Brambleton with her husband, daughter and pet fish: Goldie and Shiny. She enjoys traveling and being with her friends and family.

“If children leave preschool with a positive attitude towards learning, self-confidence, friendships and academic skills, then I know I have done my job well.”
