Honors and Recognition – Golden Pond School has presented nationally at the 2010 National Association for the Education of Young Children NAEYC and at the Virginia State Reading Association VSRA Conferences every year since 2012, and internationally at the 2013 International Reading Association (IRA) Conference.
At the 2013 IRA, the GPS team was the only presenter that was not associated with or part of a university program. The Golden Pond presentation at the IRA was Exploring Frogs & Toads: Integrating Math, Science and Language for K-2. The IRA’s recognition of Golden Pond School’s expertise was further manifested by the publication in early 2014 of the above curriculum adapted to the nationally-applied Common Core standards.
In April 2015, Golden Pond School completed an extended process of preparations for accreditation and hosted an External Review team from the accrediting body, AdvancEd. At the conclusion of the review the External Review Team recommended to the AdvancEd Accreditation Commission that the Golden Pond School earn the distinction of accreditation by AdvancEd for a 5-year term.
