At GPS since 2010
In her role as Director of Admissions, Melissa enjoys hosting Golden Pond School tours and getting to know families interested in our successful brain based learning approach. Admissions is all about finding the right fit, and making a match between a student, family and school. Melissa was our Junior Kindergarten Team Leader and teacher for many years. She brings with her a strong knowledge of our programs and their respective curriculums, excellent communication skills and a strong belief in our Golden Pond School mission to “educate the whole child in a developmentally appropriate manner”.
Melissas believes that a theme-based, hands-on curriculum is the best way to teach. She was a Preschool Special Education Teacher for five years plus a Substitute Teacher as a long term substitute in art education and preschool special education for five years in the Fairfax County Public Schools. She also was a Pre-K teacher at Beth Emeth Education Center for 3 years, was a religious school teacher and served on the educational board at her temple.
“I believe that kindness, confidence and empathy are three of the most important skills that a child should learn in preschool.”
