Registration for the 2012 summer camps is now open. Registration is done on a first come, first served basis and our classes do fill up quickly! Click on the links above for camp information and registration forms.

We are very excited about our upcoming Summer Camp at Golden Pond School!  The campers and counselors are looking forward to spending time together and enjoying the sun and the fun of the Summer Camp experience.   For our preschool and school age children there will be cooking, in-house field trips, art, water activities, science, stories, games, sports, drama, and daily hands on thrills.  This summer we are offering an extended day for the school age children as well as a two year old class!

Summer time is a great time to build friendships.  We have so many exciting activities planned to engage your child’s imagination.  For our morning campers, we plan to bring in a magician, a petting zoo, a soccer expert and some huge, combination bounce houses for all ages to enjoy!  The extended day campers will be going on weekly library trips and weekly field trips to places like the National Zoo, Riverbend Park, and even the Natural History Museum.  All of our campers are going to look forward to exciting water play on our brand new oversized water slide!  At Golden Pond School, your child will experience plenty of activities geared to inspire creativity, encourage tons of movement, and also bring a smile to their faces.

2012 Summer Camp Themes

Week 1 (June 18-22)
SPLISH, SPLASH (Preschool ages 2-4)
Ice paintings, a trike wash and even a beach day are only some of the fun activities we are planning for this week.  Have you ever had an ice ball surprise?  Or played in a great piggy freeze with your own little piggy toes? What about enjoying a slippery balloon pop?  So come splash and play in the sun!  You won’t want to miss this cool week!

WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE (Knd-2nd grade)
Come cool off during our water games each day, with liquid limbos, water balloon fights and even an ice cube melt relay!  Enjoy a day of “splat tag” or even a game of “dribble, dribble drench”!  This week you are sure to participate in some icy, wet fun like you’ve never had before.  There will be water everywhere, so come out to camp and get drenched if you dare!
 

BATTLE OF THE BAKERS (Knd-2nd grade)
During this week, campers will pretend to be chefs!  Students will learn foundational cooking skills such as following recipes, ingredient identification, and proper measuring techniques. Our cupcake decorating contest will be a favorite activity this week.  Also, campers will have an opportunity to create their own recipes, brew their own root beer and make their own pretzels.   This will be a hands-on cooking camp where students measure, mix, and prepare delicious meals and snacks.

Week 3 (July 2-6, closed on 4th)
ART EXPLORERS (Preschool ages 2-4)
Glue, paint, glitter and more will be used during our week of art! We will work together to make a giant caterpillar to hang in the school! We'll make musical instrument and old crayons new! This is a week packed with fun crafts to do!

THAT’S SO CRAFTY (Knd-2nd grade)
Come explore, create and learn during our crafty camp week. Students will learn how to make soap using items like cocoa, oatmeal and peppermint!  Other fun crafts include sun prints, tie-dye, magazine art and sand painting! This will be a week of crafting galore!
 

Week 4 (July 9-13)
DISCOVERY ZONE (Preschool ages 2-4)
Discovering things will be so much fun! Campers will discover unique treasures on their treasure hunt around the school. We’ll pretend to be astronauts and look at the stars.  Our 5 senses will be tested as we explore the world around us. This will definitely be an exciting week of discovery!

ADVENTURES IN CAMP (Knd-2nd grade)
Come join us for a week filled with adventure! We will start off our week with a real treasure hunt and follow a map to discover the buried treasure! Campers will have a chance to take a nature walk to the neighborhood pond. Outer Space will be on our list of things to discover as we create our own planetarium!    
 

Week 5 (July 16-20)
WHO WANTS TO PLAY? (Preschool ages 2-4)
Get ready for a fun week of movin’ and groovin’.  This week we will dance, tumble and exercise our feet.  A carnival day, a trike race, water day and plenty of outdoor time are some of the highlights of this week!  Come join us while we play all day!

STAY AND PLAY (Knd-2nd grade)
If you like games then this is a camp for you!  Making our own board games, relays and sports day make up only part of the fun that we have planned for you.   We will build our own mini golf course inside the building and and try out a game of Gollyball.  This week will be filled with tons of unique ideas and games so come on out to camp and play!
 

Week 6 (July 23-27)
WACKY SCIENCE MAGIC (Preschool ages 2-4)
Experimenting 1, 2, 3…..oh what fun this will be!  Pretend you’re a scientist during this cool week of camp.  Have you ever made a lemon battery, or made a glass sing?  During this week we will have so much fun with science and get ooey and gooey in our class kitchen.   We will wrap up the week with a fun balloon rocket experiment that the kids will love!

SCIENCE SUPERSTARS (Knd-2nd grade)
Experiments can be so cool!  We will make our own candy and gum in our class factory.  Then we’ll begin exploring gravity, making a hot air balloon and writing with invisible ink in our class laboratory! Come on out and be an inventor with us this week, this camp is truly a must!
 

Week 7 (July 30-August 3)
SILLY SHENANIGANS! (Preschool ages 2-4)
Come this week to play in our winter wonderland of snow.  From silly hats to silly putty, we will laugh and and giggle to our heart’s content.  Bouncing bubbles and wacky outdoor games will complete this silly week, so bring your giggles! 

LAUGH OUT LOUD! (Knd-2nd grade)
Let’s be silly, let’s have fun!  Get ready for a talent show this week where you can sing, dance and make your friends laugh!  We will enjoy a summer snow day as we create tons of fluffy white snow to play in! We won’t stop the silliness there.  Instead we will continue the week with a day geared toward learning magic tricks, experimenting with a wacky science day and even inviting a real magician to join us!  If you have a sense of humor this camp is for you!
 

Week 8 (August 6-10)
MUSIC MAKERS (Preschool ages 2-4)
Come join us under the sea!  You will spend this week making your own underwater habitat and then use it to put on a play for your parents at the end of the week!   We will make our own costumes and really put on quite a show.  Come join us for a week of acting, singing, dancing and fun!

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION (Knd-2nd grade)
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be on stage? Maybe you prefer to be behind the scenes making backdrops, being part of the crew or even writing a skit!  Whether you aspire to be an actor, a writer, or an artist, come find out if Hollywood is for you!
 

Week 9 (August 13-17)
CAN YOU BUILD IT? (Preschool ages 2-4)
Think of all the things we can build! Campers will work together to build a life-size town in their classroom. Together we’ll build caves, marble runs and even a train!  We will build kites to fly and even a cereal sculpture to eat!

ULTIMATE BUILDING CAMP (Knd-2nd grade)
Tepees, mazes and robots too are just a few exciting things students will build during this week of camp.  How about building a vehicle that uses solar power to move or building a levitating train using magnets? We will even build sculptures using edible treats!  This week will be jam-packed with building fun!

Preschool Campers
(Ages 2, 3 and 4)

PRESCHOOL CAMPERS will spend their summer at Golden Pond enjoying themed days that are jam-packed with fun. We offer the expertise of guest entertainers, incredible on-campus activities that include engaging exploratory play, hands-on art, cooking, science and outdoor activities every day.  They will have tons of fun with camp activities like pajama days, waterslide fun and water activities that we have planned each week.  Campers will also enjoy the freedom to create exciting and elaborate dramatic play areas within their classrooms.

Golden Pond families love our enthusiastic staff, unique educational approach and convenient schedule. We offer 9 weeks filled with creative activities with options to sign up for multiple 1-week sessions.  Campers will also enjoy “in-house” field trips such as a petting zoo, puppet shows, a magician, and more!  This year, we have decided to open up our summer program to our two year olds!  Campers must be two years old by May 31 to be eligible for enrollment.

Art Break out the brushes, paints, and smocks…we are about to get wacky! From finger paint to paper mache we’ll use our imagination and hands to create all sorts of art projects related to our fun weekly themes. Campers will enjoy all of the messy fun you do not dare to try at home!

Campers must be at least two years old by May 31, and three year olds must be potty trained by the first day of camp to be eligible for enrollment.

School Age Campers
(Rising Kindergarten through Rising 2nd grade)

SCHOOL AGE (SAC) CAMPERS will take the weekly themes to the next level with more challenging activities.  Campers will get to know each other through challenging, team building activities designed to build friendships.  One of the highlights of the SAC campers’ summer is the awesome waterslide and water activities we have planned each week.  They will also get to spend time each week at our Canteen (Camp Store) to purchase tasty treats like popsicles and ice cream to eat in the beautiful outdoors!  The campers will make delicious snacks, experiment with ooey, gooey fun, become an actor, build a giant classroom habitat and spend time in the good old outdoors!  Campers will also enjoy “in-house” field trips such as a petting Zoo, magicians, and more!

For our extended day campers, we will go on a weekly adventure (field trip) in our school bus to places like the zoo, the discovery museum and even berry picking!  The extended day will be full of activities such as indoor golf, outdoor games, group projects, and classroom art.  Our afternoons will be so much fun; time will fly by while the campers engage in exciting and meaningful activities!

Art From projects to painting and everything in between we’ll use our creativity to make all kinds of wonderfully inventive art to share with family and friends.  Projects will be based on our weekly themes and will give the campers an opportunity to use their imagination in ways they never have before.
