SCHOOL CLOSURES

Golden Pond School will be closed on the following days: New Year’s Day, Lee/Jackson/King Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas. The School will have early closing on New Year’s Eve (3:00 p.m.) Additionally, we may be instituting 2 in-service training days per year for staff training. Parents will be given at least one month’s advance notice of school closure for in-service training.

Our Kindergarten and Part Time Preschool programs will follow Loudoun County public schools policies for closure (holidays, vacations, in-service days and weather-related). Our Full Time Programs, including preschool children on the extended day program will remain open throughout the year except for the scheduled closures mentioned above or for weather-related closings following the policies of the Federal Government.

Golden Pond School operates as a full-time program. Your paid tuition holds your child’s spot through absences and vacations.

SCHOOL CLOSING/INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICIES

In addition to holidays, it may be necessary to close the school due to severe weather conditions, disasters, or failures of electrical, water or heating systems.

The Head of School will determine whether and when the school will be closed based on the best available information regarding a specific situation (emergency, weather, etc.) With regard to weather-related closings, our Full Time programs will follow the lead of the Federal Government (generally considered reluctant to close). Our part-time Preschools and Kindergarten classes will always follow the Loudoun County school closings.

Golden Pond School will communicate school closing or delayed opening information via local radio and television, by a message on our telephone answering system and through our website (www.goldenpondschool.com).

School closing information will also be posted on the WTOP radio website, www.wtopnews.com.

Please read our School Snow Policy for more information on what procedure we follow.
