Susan E., GPS Parent
Every single staff member and teacher throughout the years has provided invaluable love, support, encouragement and given our boys a passion for learning. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

“I cannot imagine a better place for my children to be spending their formative first years then attending Golden Pond School. It is a great feeling to hear your child say “I LOVE school!”. My children light up when they tell me about their Art, Music and Spanish lessons. What really stands out to me when I am in the school is how energetic, enthusiastic, and happy the teachers and staff are. I highly recommend Golden Pond School to anyone. It is the best investment we have made in our children.”
Allegra H., GPS Parent
My kids have been going to Golden Pond School for four years. My youngest will start four year old preschool in September, and we couldn’t be happier. My kids have attended preschool, KE, and as many summer camps as possible. We love the teachers, the staff, and the community we’ve found. The kids learn so fast in school, and more importantly they have the emotional support to really succeed. I highly recommend Golden Pond!
Melissa F., GPS Parent and Educator
As a former teacher, I recognize how important it is for a teacher to see each child as an individual learner with different strengths and challenges. I love how GPS tunes in to each child and makes their learning experience rewarding and relevant to them. It allowed our daughter to grow in her own love of learning and gave her such pride in her accomplishments … I immediately loved how GPS approached learning new things from so many different perspectives. A child learns faster and retains information longer if they experience it, rather than just hear it. Golden Pond takes this to new levels. Learning is hands on. They build, experiment, touch, taste and create. Our daughter still points out levers and pulleys and inclined planes from when she got to build them and test them out 3 years ago! She has carried this over to Elementary School and has an academic confidence that came from being given the opportunity to learn on so many different levels.
Holly P., GPS Parent and Educator
While searching for a school for my daughter it was extremely important to me to find a learning environment that was as much like the one I sought to provide for the many preschoolers I have taught over the years. I wanted a school that first and foremost saw my child as a unique individual with varied interests and personality traits–and used that knowledge to help her learn and grow in the way that was best for her. I wanted professionals who were informed by developmentally appropriate practice and primarily used a play based learning approach, as children learn so much better through an atmosphere that is fun and engaging with various learning opportunities provided by and amongst their peers. And finally, I wanted a school that put her social emotional development at the forefront, as I believe the preschool years are the most important ones to help our children become the self-aware, kind, independent, and resilient individuals we truly want them to grow to be. I have found Golden Pond to do all this and more in the year we have been at this school. I am continually impressed with the teachers and staff, and my daughter’s excitement while relaying the events of each school day in detail tell me we made the right choice with GPS! We are so happy to be continuing her journey there next year!
William, GPS Parent & PWPS Educator
I love the warm and welcoming atmosphere. All of the staff and teachers made my son feel very comfortable. As an educator, I immediately noticed and valued the academic rigor of the KE program and that the curriculum is presented in a very creative, hands-on way. The classes delve deeper into topics and are more challenged than at my son’s morning Kindergarten program. When he came home from school, everything he was excited about and wanted to share with me had happened at Golden Pond!
I ADORE this school and all of the wonderful teachers and administrators. From play-based learning to the 3 great playgrounds to the fabulous parent group, this school is the best choice for anyone looking for a Preschool or Kindergarten for their child.
AdvancED Review Report
School leaders have adopted a mission to use brain-based instructional methods to educate the whole child in a developmentally appropriate and nurturing environment. That mission is carried out passionately and with fidelity by all staff members in a classroom. The school’s children are highly engaged in a theme-based instructional process that allows them to connect prior knowledge to new learning.
I have extreme admiration for your after school program. My son attends the extended school program in the Falcons class. He is extremely happy with the program and looks forward everyday to the Falcons class :). He even told us that he doesn’t want to go on summer vacation anywhere and even if we go anywhere, he must get back before the Golden Pond Summer Camp starts :). My son keeps talking about the great work he does at Golden Pond so now my second child keeps asking us all the time when he gets to go to the super school. We are enrolling my second child at Golden Pond for Junior Kindergarten program and Stay & Play. My kids have previously attended Accredited Montessori schools but I have never seen a KE and Extended Day program as wonderful as it is at Golden Pond. Thank you to everyone at Golden Pond for sending home a happy kid to us in the evenings!! You all do excellent work with the kids and deserve big kudos!!!!
Simply the right choice for our kids.
I think the KE program does an excellent job of re-enforcing the concepts thru various projects, work, and activities thus the children grasp and understand what is being taught and them can apply their lessons to every date life. My daughter is still talking about cohesion!
I really liked the teaching through experiments vs. teaching the child through work sheets. This was important since my child talked more about what he learned at Golden Pond and less them what he learned in public school. This confirmed to me that this was the best decision that I can make for my child. I can’t say enough great things about Golden Pond and their teachers.
Golden Pond, by far, has the best teachers in the Northern Virginia area.
Our son Brody is in the Stay & Play program and he is loving it! Every week he tells me about the theme and just loves having his morning buddies and his Stay & Play friends every day. The teachers have been wonderful and the class ratio is amazing. It’s a safe and fun environment for my child. The rooms are spotless, they brush their teeth daily, are provided healthy meals and have a great balance of classroom, free time and playground time. I have to beg him to follow me out each night! He has too much fun.
Golden Pond is a dream for both parents and children! I have a child who has graduated from GP and another that is entering the 3’s program. The teachers are creative and energetic. The staff is loving and kind. The facility is clean and bright. The parents are involved and there is a sense of community. All around a wonderful learning and social environment. I feel good dropping them off there and the children look forward to going. It’s everything you would want in a Pre-School!
Now that Golden Pond has their Stay & Play program we don’t have to pick up our six year old twins and a three year old children from two different locations! We had to deal with two separate school calendars and schedules over the last few years and as working parents it presented many challenges. We are so grateful to finally have all of them together in such a great environment. Thank you GPS!

Our family has been with Golden Pond since 2010. Our sons have had the best experience and I can’t say enough good things about the school. The environment is family-oriented and even teachers who haven’t had my kids, still know them by name! A nurturing, safe, fun place for all children and of course a great education. My two older boys also attended full-day Kindergarten which was worth every penny and then some. We still keep in touch with the families we have met through the years and my kids have playdates with children they met at age 3. (they are now 9 and 6.5). Some of my best mommy friends are from previous classes and we still keep in touch too. I am looking forward to my youngest son starting at Golden Pond this Fall and being the first class of “Stay & Play” (full day). Love love love this school! They are like family to us. 🙂
My son Thomas expressed tonight: “I wish Golden Pond went all the way through college!”. It’s a tribute to how wonderful Golden Pond School has been in our lives.
Jennifer Roy, Head of Youth Services, Ashburn Library
I am once again impressed by the passion and professionalism of The Golden Pond School staff. I appreciate the opportunity to share their expertise with the library and the Ashburn community.
As educators ourselves, we were looking for a school that took a hands-on, in-depth approach to learning. We found that at Golden Pond School. Our boys have grown in mind, body, and spirit, and have come to love school and all the opportunities it offers on a daily basis.
Sophie C., Parent
Our daughter is now in her fourth year at Golden Pond School, attending Kindergarten. She absolutely loves going to school every day—and has since she began at Golden Pond in the two-day program when she was just three. Her development and pride in her accomplishments have been wonderful to watch.
Theresa A.L., Parent
Between two boys, my children have covered every year that GPS offers…coming into the school not yet potty trained (Scramblers) to full-day Kindergarten and SAC after school care. I cannot adequately express the appreciation and respect I have for the educators at GPS. My boys like school and love learning; GPS has provided and fostered that foundation.
Anne and Patrick L., Parents
My husband and I are the MOST overprotective parents and we were so worried about how our son would like school. Now we cannot imagine life without Golden Pond. He seriously is a changed child. He sings and tells stories all the time. He talks about his classmates like they live at our house. His goal in life is to be line leader someday. It’s just so cute, I can’t take it!
Sarah and David P., Parents
After hearing so many good things from neighbors and friends, we left another preschool and enrolled our child at Golden Pond. We’ve been amazed at the quality of care our son has experienced. Your teachers seem happy to be at work and when we walk to our son’s classroom in the morning, they all greet him by name with a big smile. He is pushed academically but not too much. The central theme of the day is always “fun” and as a result he’s happy to be there.
As a family with two working, we always felt very involved with our daughter’s activities and class festivities, thanks to her teachers. I had the opportunity to observe the class on several occasions and her teacher truly had the classroom fully engaged.
The M. Family
Our daughter’s teacher was amazing. Every day our daughter would show or tell us something new that she had learned in class that day.
Parents of S.A.
Since she has been at Golden Pond, our daughter has become much more expressive in her communications with others and her behavior in group settings has matured.
Pamela S., Parent
I am so pleased that we chose Golden Pond as the foundation for our daughter’s education. Golden Pond School, the staff, and especially the educators have exceeded the expectations and high standards we set for our child.
The C. Family
We couldn’t leave without letting you know what an amazing experience GPS has been for our kids. Your staff is incredible and they have left a lasting impression on our boys. Our son still asks if he can come back! We leave knowing that we couldn’t have made a better decision than Golden Pond.
Lunch today is on the parents! This is just a small way of showing our appreciation. I will never be able to return the wonderful gifts that the staff at GPS has given my child! Thank you.
The A. Family
I would just like to thank the whole staff of Golden Pond for all the wonderful years of caring and teaching! Words cannot describe the comfort Golden Pond gives me when I leave my child with you every day! Keep being the best school and, most of all, keep caring so much for our children! Thank you for everything!
Laura G., Parent
Over the three years our son has attended Golden Pond, he has enjoyed all of his teachers and truly developed as a young boy. He has learned so much scholastically, but just as equally has gained exceptional social skills, manners, and respect for others. We are looking forward to our younger daughter enjoying the same success when she starts at Golden Pond next year.
The D. Family
We cannot even begin to tell you how well you prepared our son for Kindergarten. His PALS scores were excellent, thanks to his confidence in reading and writing. Meanwhile, our daughter is writing her name already and she recognizes all the letters. Most of all the friendships they made at Golden Pond were priceless. You have set the standard high!
Maria S., Parent
There are many things that I love about Golden Pond School. For example, the way the curriculum is taught, the children feel as if they are just playing, when in fact they are learning important concepts. Each child is exposed to music, art, science, math, reading and much more.
GPS feels “homey” and warm. I especially like the themes and the field trips. I’ve seen and heard my child put her new knowledge into practice on countless occasions.
D. & K., Parents
The curriculum is impressive. Our Explorer was quizzing and correcting his second-grade brother on science facts and in fact had learned about some areas in more detail than the second graders did.
The B. Family
Their strategies for teaching children about new concepts surpass every other preschool I’ve looked at. I was very impressed by the way the program is run and I would recommend Golden Pond to anyone.
My child’s program is outstanding. You provide great depth to each learning module, wonderful experiences with the field trips, and great excitement with the library visits. The kids really take great pride in all that they have learned during the course of the school year.
Golden Pond offers a patient and relaxed, clean atmosphere. The teachers accept that each child is unique and progresses differently.
The academics and structure at Golden Pond lets kids learn naturally in their own environment through play.
I love how Golden Pond can take a concept and stretch the ideas for the kids without ever teaching down to them. My child came home from Kindergarten enrichment every day happy and engaged.
Golden Pond offers a very structured program as well as looking outside the box!
Pamela S., Parent
Our daughter’s teacher was extraordinary and made a profound impression on our daughter. by making each day an adventure for the kids.
Surat N. and Zaid D., Parents
Our children have developed greatly because of their teachers’ efforts. They have always been responsive to our needs and have communicated effectively with us. We are very grateful to them. We look forward to another wonderful year with the Golden Pond School.
The teachers are amazing! We have attended two other private schools and Golden Pond has far exceeded our expectations. My son is very happy!
GPS is a structured school with a well designed agenda, not a day care. I appreciate their focus on early learning and that there are two teachers in every class. That said, as my kids get older, I would love for the school to start an elementary division. I would enroll both my kids.
The A. Family
The teachers and assistant teachers are extremely loving and nurturing. The school is also run very efficiently.
The R. Family
Your teachers are amazing. Ms. K is such a gem and so gifted with children—and has taught all my kids. Teachers like her make enrollment for my entire family a no-brainer.
The H. Family
We like the good teacher-to-student ratio and the pressure-free environment for the kids.
My children loved being at the school. They adored their loving, kind teachers that took a personal interest in every child in class.
Theresa A.L., Parent
Without fail, I have always felt the administration has an open door to talk about and address any questions, concerns or suggestions.
Parents of S.A.
We appreciate the diverse environment the school has and the variety of cultures different people bring. We appreciated the chance to present information on Ramadan (Islam’s holiest month) to our daughter’s class and we value your openness and support of diversity.
Maria S., Parent
If I had to pick one thing that stands out for me, it is that each and every person there, from the teachers to all the staff, is completely committed to the children and their education.
The school feels more like a community…than many of the other private schools in our area. It’s organized, professional, and comfortable for the kids. Teachers and staff are always friendly and polite. Everyone works together to make a great atmosphere.
The teachers and staff at Golden Pond always made me feel like my child—and all the children were the priority—from their learning to their safety. I also really appreciated the email communication and attention to detail that everyone showed me as a parent.
I always felt informed and any questions or concerns were always dealt with quickly and professionally. We were completely satisfied with our experience!
The welcoming, professional environment and strong curriculum are the school’s biggest strengths….It exceeded any public school program by far. I always felt informed and any questions or concerns were always dealt with quickly and professionally. We were completely satisfied with our experience!
Ajeet, Private Kindergarten Alumni
Golden Pond is the best school in the universe that I’ve ever seen. I will miss Golden Pond so much, but I get to come for Summer Camp 🙂 Thank you for making a huge and fun playground for me and my friends in Room 7. I wish I could come to Golden Pond from first grade to twelfth grade too. I will miss you!
